The Let’s Minocqua Visitors Bureau + Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the 2022 Room Tax Grant application process is now open and for the second year in a row they are able to provide larger amounts of funding to approved grant awardees due to increased tourism in the Lakeland Area. Up to $20,000 available to qualifying applicants will be available for the upcoming tourism season!
Due to an increase in travel to the communities of Arbor Vitae, Woodruff, and Minocqua during the 2021 tourism season, the Let’s Minocqua Board of Directors has approved increased funding to the room tax grant program.
“We are continuously impressed by the numbers of people that repeatedly show their love for the Northwoods specifically Arbor Vitae, Woodruff, and Minocqua. It’s no surprise really considering how many people are visiting our website and social media channels on a consistent basis. The numbers are really showing that we are a destination that people strive to recreate in every year. With the number of folks on waitlists we are hearing about we expect this trend to continue for several more years!”, said Krystal Westfahl, executive director at Let’s Minocqua.
Funding is devoted to community groups and organizations for tourism development and promotion in the Minocqua area. The Board will consider applications from non-profit groups and organizations that provide marketing and focus on bringing people to the Minocqua area along with developing the destination. The Board will also consider applications from non-profit groups and organizations that offer activities or events that will encourage people to stay longer.
All those interested in applying should visit https://www.minocqua.org/about-us/room-tax-grant/ and fill out the application. All applications are due March 11th, 2022 and decisions will be made and awarded mid-April.
“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to support more opportunities for tourism in the Lakeland Area and we look forward to assisting our nonprofits in this common goal,” said Board President, John Eppes.
We are pleased to, once again, recognize the awardees for the 2021 Room Tax Grant.
