Advisory Board Application
Each year, a new class of leaders is selected to serve on the Minocqua Area Visitors Bureau Advisory Board. Any partner in good standing who is enthusiastic about shaping the future of tourism in our region is encouraged to apply. Completing an application does not guarantee nomination, but if selected, Advisory Board members will enjoy a rewarding opportunity to share their talents and insights while helping guide the work of the Visitors Bureau for the benefit of the entire community.
About the Minocqua Area Visitors Bureau
The Minocqua Area Visitors Bureau is the leading tourism marketing organization in the Northwoods. Our vision is to promote Minocqua, Woodruff, Arbor Vitae, and Hazelhurst as premier travel destinations while partnering with local businesses to strengthen the area’s economy and quality of life. We serve our tourism zone by marketing the region globally, facilitating travel, supporting local businesses, and preserving the natural beauty that makes our communities unique. Our work is centered around economic impact, workforce support, and enhancing the Northwoods experience for residents and visitors alike.
The Role of the Advisory Board
The Advisory Board plays a key role in supporting and guiding the mission of the Visitors Bureau by:

Providing leadership insight and strategic direction aligned with our mission and vision

Serving as a voice for partner businesses and engaging in community outreach

Advocating for the value of local partnership and the importance of tourism to the regional economy
What We’re Looking For
The ideal Advisory Board candidate:

Brings energy, fresh ideas, and a collaborative spirit

Is passionate about the business community and the power of partnership

Offers experience or interest in business operations, tourism, or community development

Regularly attends board meetings, events, and committee work with punctuality and purpose

Actively participates in meaningful discussion and decision-making

Maintains integrity and avoids any real or perceived conflicts of interest

Understands this is a volunteer position with no compensation or reimbursement
Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed by a confidential Nominating Committee, who will prepare a slate of candidates for review. The committee aims to ensure diversity in geography, industry, background, and perspective to best reflect the communities we serve. Selection will be based on:

Level of involvement and engagement with the Visitors Bureau

Relevant business knowledge, skills, or experience that align with the Bureau’s mission

Equal business representation with each of the communities we serve
