Looking for an active adventure in the Northwoods with your special someone? There are plenty of ways to get out and play in Minocqua, Woodruff, and Arbor Vitae, whether you’re biking on a scenic lake trail, or zipping atop towering pine trees. Here are a few ways to get out and explore the area on a couples’ adventure.
Hiking & Biking
Minocqua, Arbor Vitae, and Woodruff are home to more than 600 miles of hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing trails, so there’s plenty to explore. The Raven Nature Trail is a mix of mostly intermediate-level trails winding through wooded forests adjacent to Clear Lake & Inkpot Lake. For hikers, try the tranquil 1.5-mile nature loop trail which passes past Hemlock Lake. Pets and bikers are not allowed on the Nature Loop Trail. Bikers can increase their adrenaline on the skills course designed by the Lakeland Area Mountain Biking Organization in cooperation with the NHAL State Forest. The course includes log rides, bridges, teeter-totters & rock gardens.
Surfing
Head to surf school and learn to wake surf with Surf Sconsin. No experience is necessary and they provide all the equipment and instruction you need. Book a lesson for up to 8 of your adventure-seeking pals and see who can stay riding the wave the longest.
Golf, (mini)Golf, (Disc)Golf
Fore even more fun, just pick a course. Hit the links indoors or out. Book a tee time at the beautiful Timber Ridge Golf Course or take a swing indoors on Lakeland Fitness & Golf's indoor simulators. Show off your short-game skills mini-golfing. Minoc-Woods Mini Golf, located in Gaslight Square, has an indoor mini golf course as well as an escape room, and Island Golf offers 18 holes of fun in a beautiful outdoor setting. Trade your driver for a disc at the Brandy Park 18-hole disc golf course in Woodruff.
Ziplining
Northwoods Zip Line Adventure Tours is home to some of Wisconsin's largest and longest zipline runs. Zip lines take riders on a canopy tour through the woods & 1,000 feet over a wilderness lake. The Aerial Trekking Tour combines the adventure of ziplines with an aerial obstacle course among towering pine trees.
Horseback Riding
Saddle up & ride through the Northwoods on horseback. Equestrian enthusiasts can find horseback riding opportunities at Rock Falls Riding Stables in Arbor Vitae and Holiday Acres in Minocqua.
