See constellations, meteor showers, the Milky Way—and occasionally the Northern Lights.
The Northern Lights—also known as the aurora borealis—are one of the most magical sights you can experience in the Minocqua area. While they’re not guaranteed, these vibrant green and purple waves sometimes appear on cold, clear nights during periods of high solar activity, especially from late fall through early spring. With Minocqua’s low light pollution and wide open skies, you’ll have an excellent chance to spot them when conditions are right. Check the aurora forecast before your trip, and head to a dark, unobstructed location for your best view of this unforgettable natural phenomenon.
