Summer vacation means time with the family, and the Minocqua Area is home to lots of unique places that are fun for the whole family. Here’s a closer look at some of the region’s top family-friendly attractions.
Wildwood Wildlife Park, Zoo & Nature Center
This unique attraction is home to more than 1,700 animals representing nearly 230 species, including giraffes, snow leopards, zebras, gibbons, wildebeest, and many more. Hop the safari tram to take a motorized tour of the park and see exotic and endangered species from Africa, Asia, Australia, and North and South America, or make memories by feeding giraffes, parakeets, goats, sheep, deer, camels, and others.
Northwoods Zip Line & Adventure Tours
Soar through the trees at this fun family attraction, which offers some of the largest and longest zip lining in the state. Northwoods Zip Line has more than a dozen zip lines, some of which will take riders a thousand feet above the ground. They offer several tours (including a kids’ zip line tour, which is open to children 3 and older), as well as options for Northwoods river tours and ATVing trips through their affiliated companies.
Miniature golf
Another fun way to spend time with the family on your summer vacation is to hit the links—OK, maybe it’s more like artificial grass in this case—at the miniature golf courses in the Minocqua Area. Minocq-Woods Mini Golf, located in Gaslight Square, offers opportunities for family fun that include an indoor mini-golf course and an escape room, and Island Golf, also located downtown, is home to an 18-hole course in a beautiful outdoor setting.
Head to Woodruff north of Minocqua to find this fun event that features the same games showcased in ESPN’s Great Outdoor Games and the Lumberjack World Championships—logrolling, power sawing, pole climbing, axe throwing, the boom run, and more. Shows run five times a week during the summer season (June through August) and last about 90 minutes, including intermission.
