THE VILAS COUNTY SNOWMOBILE TRAIL SYSTEM INCLUDING ALL STATE FUNDED AND CLUB FUNDED TRAILS WILL OPEN ON FRIDAY, December 19, 2025, at 8:00 a.m.

The 11 Vilas County Snowmobile Alliance Clubs, (The Arbor Vitae Cross Country Cruisers, The Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club, The  Conover Sno-Buddies, The Eagle River SnoEagles, The Lac du Flambeau Northern Hornshoe, The Land O’ Lakes Frosty Club, The Manitowish Waters Sno-Skeeters, The Phelps Snowmobile Club, The Presque Isle/ Winchester Sno-Bunnies, The Sayner Barnstormers, and The St. Germain Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club) along with sponsors and operators of the existing trails have put in many volunteer hours of brushing, signing, and trail work to confirm a safe opening of the snowmobile trails.  Please thank these individuals and organizations for their efforts and patronize their business sponsors. Without these dedicated clubs, snowmobiling would not be possible in Vilas County.  This year’s opening was hampered by severe storm damage from wet, heavy snow and high winds. These clubs went above and beyond to get their trails in safe riding conditions.  If you don’t belong to one of these clubs, please consider joining one.  Club maps are available at many area businesses, and you can check out the Vilas County MapIt App at: https://www.vilaswi.com/trails/.

Please remember that the trails are in early season riding conditions; watch your speed and stay to the right.  Clubs have all been out panning and packing a base on the trails. Caution should be used when entering corners, accelerating, and sudden braking.  It is imperative that riders stay on the marked trails, routes and lake crossings. Most riders do not know where public land and private property lines are and we ask that when out on the trails, assume that all the trails are on private property. We hope you enjoy the 500 plus miles of state funded and club funded trails in Vilas County and thank you for supporting the economy of Vilas County.

Off trail riding is trespassing and could result in closure or loss of trails and fines for those who violate.  Please remember that all lakes are unsafe and dangerous until they are marked and then, please stay on the marked portion.
