Area fire departments and community partners are teaming up to help fight hunger in the Northwoods this fall. On Saturday, November 8th, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., local fire stations will be collecting nonperishable canned goods as part of a coordinated Community Food Drive to benefit families in need.

Look for the flashing lights at the following donation drop-off locations:
• Hazelhurst Fire Department – Hwy 51 S
• Minocqua Fire Department – Hwy 51 S
Woodruff Fire Department – Michael Timmons Community Center, Hwy 47
• Arbor Vitae Fire Department – Coontail Parking Lot, Hwy 51 N

Community members are encouraged to stop by any of these sites and drop off canned goods or other nonperishable food items. All donations will directly support the Lakeland Food Pantry serving those in need throughout the area. If you wish to contribute cash donations or other items, please direct them to the Lakeland Food Pantry.

This important initiative is being supported by the Wings Program at Lakeland Union High School (LUHS). Students from LUHS will collect donations from the fire departments on Monday, November 10th, and deliver them to the Lakeland Food Pantry.

“Helping feed our neighbors is one of the most meaningful ways we can give back,” said Pamela Carroll, Arbor Vitae Town Board Supervisor. “We encourage everyone to join us and make a difference—every can counts!”

“As firefighters, our mission is to serve and protect our neighbors—whether that’s during a fire, an accident, or by helping make sure no one goes hungry,” Arbor Vitae Fire Chief Mike Van Meter said. “When the community comes together like this, it shows the strength and compassion that make the Northwoods such a special place to live.”
