Who We Are
Firebird Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization formed by a group of community members with a vested interest in improving facilities and programs at Minocqua J1 School District.
What We Do
We secure tax-deductible contributions and grants to fund programs and facilities outside the school budget and in keeping with the MJ1 School mission. We solicit both corporate and private sponsorship.
To enhance the educational experience at MJ1 by securing alternative revenue sources to support programs and facilities.
Our vision is to keep MJ1 the cornerstone of our community, a place where students and the community at large can enjoy multiple educational and co-curricular opportunities, supported by improved facilities. MJ1 has raised the bar in academic excellence, boasting standardized tests scores among the highest in the state. We envision expanded facilities at MJ1 as a way to increase school pride, maintain strong enrollment, build bridges between the generations and promote lifelong health and fitness for residents of all ages.
Due to state revenue caps, MJ1 is funded with one of the leanest operating budgets in the area. We believe it is important to generate alternative revenue sources, outside of tax dollars, to enhance and expand MJ1's programs and facilities. Firebird Foundation was created to accomplish this task. We share the belief that expanded facilities and programs will allow MJ1 to offer opportunities comparable to other schools in the area. We believe a strong, well facilitated school benefits the economic structure of the entire community.
Our initial campaign helped finance a regulation track with soccer and football fields, for student and community use. Your contributions will support a number of academic enrichment programs outside of the school budget.
