Every Hour Counts

Exploring Childcare and Afterschool Needs for Youth and Families in the Lakeland Area

Feedback Requested
Beginning in January of 2020, a group of community members, in partnership with Marshfield Clinic Center for Community Health and Advancement, met to support the visioning, planning, and development of the exploration of childcare and afterschool needs for youth and families in the Lakeland area. Through this work, a formal group, Every Hour Counts, was formed.  Every Hour Counts recognizes that high-quality learning opportunities, including after-school and summertime, that help children and families gain the skills, knowledge, and experiences they need to lead successful lives are critical.  To accomplish this they are working to develop a set of strategies, goals, and measures to guide future direction of Every Hour Counts to improve community impact. The group is working on a strategic roadmap with action plans to guide the further development of purpose, governance, and activities.

Currently, the Every Hours Counts steering committee is in need of further feedback from the community as they move forward. We know that needs exist here in our community. What we are looking to gather now is more specifics on what those are.  Through the use of a community needs assessment survey, it will allow us to see detail from parent/caregivers, business leaders, teachers, social workers, and other community members what is most important for us to focus on.  We have created two simple surveys to help us gather this information. One is focused on parents and caregivers, the other is for our community partners.  We hope that our community shares in this opportunity for feedback, giving Every Hour Counts a strong start on what is most important.
