Fundraiser to be held July 27, proceeds help fund new firefighting equipment
The Woodruff Fire Department is hosting its annual Pig Roast on Saturday, July 27 from 12pm to 9pm at their headquarters (1418 1st Avenue) in Woodruff.
The event will feature music from Kurt Schweers (12pm-3pm) and Common Ground (4pm-9pm), water fights (1pm), as well as food, a beer garden, bounce houses and raffles happening all day. Handicapped parking is available on site.
This family-friendly event helps the department raise much needed funds to update their firefighting equipment and help keep the community safe.
“We are fortunate to be one of the best equipped departments in the area,” said Victor Gee, Woodruff Fire Department chief. “We definitely want to keep it that way, and that’s why the generosity of our community members at events like these is so incredibly important. We hope to see everyone out having a great time!”
The Woodruff Fire Department is a volunteer fire department covering 49 square miles, with additional coverage in the Lakeland area as needed. Made up of 20 dedicated firefighters, the team responds to between 50 and 100 calls each year, from fires and accidents to gas/electrical incidents and search and rescue operations.
