Minocqua-Area Ambassadors

Chamber Ambassadors welcome new businesses to the community. They are also responsible for maintaining relationships with current members, as well as encouraging potential members to join.

In addition, Chamber Ambassadors:

-Attend all monthly committee meetings on the first Wednesday of each month
-Attend monthly ribbon cuttings on the second Wednesday of each month
-Keep in touch with the community by networking
-Help organize and promote Taste of the North
-Act as greeters at monthly Chamber After 5 events
-Volunteer to work shifts at various chamber events
-Recruit new volunteers to become part of the Ambassador Committee
-Present annual Cornerstone Awards at Fall Membership Banquet

Chamber After 5

On the third Thursday of each month, Chamber After 5 events are hosted to encourage networking between area businesses and professionals. Chamber After 5 events also serve as charitable events, with a portion of the proceeds from each After 5 raffle going to an organization chosen by the Chamber Ambassadors.

Business Background/Experience: Prior to moving to Minocqua 3 years ago, I was the Regional Sales Manager with Cellcom (wireless industry) for 12 years. My job was to oversee all sales functions of the operation including Direct Sales, Retail Sales, and Agent Sales as well as the development of the correlating operating budgets. My territory was WI (including Minocqua), MN, Iowa and Upper MI. Once I relocated to Minocqua, I began my Real Estate career. I am now working with the First Weber Group as a team with my husband, Tom.
Community Experience: I am currently a co-chair of the Minocqua-Arbor Vitae-Woodruff Ambassadors. I've been an ambassador for over 2 years. Previously, I have been on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters and an active Chamber member in Green Bay, Marshfield and Wausau. I also am a very active member of the Cross-Country Cruisers Snowmobile Club (I coordinate the Adopt-A-Highway efforts and various fund raisers) and help groom trails with Tom.
Hobbies: I enjoy all the magnificent seasons that the Northwoods offer. Summer, winter, spring and fall all provide an unlimited possibility of things to do. If it has to do with the OUTDOORS - I do it and love it.

Relocated from West Bend, WI in 2001 to enjoy all the Northwoods has to offer. Educated at UWM in accounting and human resources my last position before relocating was HR Director at a large Milwaukee manufacturer. Now I am the CFO at the YMCA of the Northwoods and my husband, Richard is operations manager for Fireside Heath and Home in Minocqua.
I am active with the Minocqua Chamber as an Ambassador and together with Dick are members of the Cross Country Cruisers and Northern Hornshoe snowmobile clubs. Dick is a trail groomer and former board member, I serve as club Sunshine person and both of us serve on many event committees. I also participate in YMCA fund raisers.
Our hobbies include snowmobiling, ATVing, boating, fishing, traveling and Northwoods campfires.

Business Background/Experience: I have been a mortgage loan officer at Mid-Wisconsin bank for the past 4 years. Prior to that I was the Financial Manager at the Pointe Hotel with a short stint as a realtor in between the two. Also, my husband and I own Eagle Shores, a 12 unit seasonal, Northwoods resort on Garth Lake. The resort has been in Jim’s family since the early ‘60’s. Prior to coming up to the Northwoods, I spent 13 years in the corporate financial environment in Chicago. I am a University Of Illinois grad with a degree in Finance/accounting.
I have lived in Minocqua/Hazelhurst since 1994 and enjoyed raising my kids here. It was a real joy to be able to send my kids to the same schools that their Dad went to and to enjoy the benefits that a small town offers.
Community Experience: I am currently the president elect of the Lakeland Kiwanis, Board member of the Northwoods Wildlife Center, Junior Achievement advisory council member, Chamber Ambassador, and Oneida County Tourism Council Hazelhurst alternate. In the past I have been the Lakeland High School Hockey Boosters president and MHLT PTO President.
Hobbies: snowshoeing and cross country skiing during the winter and boating during the summer (when I can get away from the resort)

Pets: One dog, an Eskland named Toby, and two cats, Oscar and Carmel.
Business Background/Experience: I’m currently the General Manager at NRG Media, with radio stations in Minocqua, Rhinelander, and Antigo. Prior to coming to Minocqua in October of 2008, I was the Director of National Sales for a cinema advertising company for five years, and the VP/GM of a natural pet product company in the Twin Cities for three and a half years. Before that, I spent over two decades in radio management and programming in Nebraska, Montana, Minnesota, North Dakota, and here in Wisconsin.
Hobbies: Right now when I’m not working, Patty and I enjoy walking the dog and exploring the Northwoods. Since we’re renting here in Minocqua while waiting for our home to sell in the Twin Cities, half of everything we own is 280 miles away, including most of the fun stuff like bikes, etc. Hopefully, we find a buyer for the house before we’re too old to use them…

Tom has worked in the Northwoods since 1993 - managing the Northwoods wireless market for Cellcom out of Wausau. In 2006 Tom and his wife Michelle wanted to make Minocqua their home. Tom joined NaterraLand as a Land Specialist and recently joined his wife to form The BIRD Team at The First Weber Group Realtors in Minocqua. Tom has been very active in the Ambassadors Club since 2006. He had been an Ambassador for the Merrill and Mosinee Chambers of Commerce as well as serving on the Mosinee Chamber's Board of Directors as their Treasurer. Tom is also Vice President of the Cross Country Cruisers 100% All Volunteer Snowmobile Club. He also grooms the trails for the club and acts as assistant Oneida County Trail Boss.
Tom and his wife Michelle live in Hazelhurst with their 2 Golden Retrievers (Buck and Bear) and Cat (Boo). They enjoy Hunting, Fishing, Snowmobiling, ATVing, Snowshoeing, Hiking, Biking, Skiing, Volunteering and everything else you can do in the "awesome" Northwoods.

Biography:
Born and raised in the Madison area, I spent 22 years in law enforcement before retiring in 1997. I moved to Northern Wisconsin in 2002 after accepting a position with Plunkett’s Pest Control where I do Technical Support, Sales and Training. Northern Wisconsin has so much to enjoy, the people are so friendly; clients become friends.
Being active with the Chamber and serving as an Ambassador is very fulfilling. We spend time with 6 Arabian horses, 1 donkey and various other critters as well as fishing, boating, hunting and all that goes along with this beautiful area we call home.

I have lived in Tomahawk with my family for the past 14 years.
Business Background/Experience: I have been the Community Relations Coordinator at MHLT Elementary School for the past 3 years. I coordinate the Community Education program, which includes after school programs, safety classes, summer outdoor education and more. I am also the set director for the Drama department at MHLT and enjoy participating in the productions at LUHS and the Campanile Center, as well. My responsibilities at MHLT also include coordinating the volunteers. Volunteerism is something I feel very strongly about. I believe that the success of school or community is dependant on volunteers. I have been an active volunteer at my children’s schools for the past 13 years.
Community Experience: I am currently a board member of the Firebird Foundation, a member of the Strategic Planning Committee at MHLT Elementary school (along with various other committees at MHLT), a member of the Lake Tomahawk Web Site Committee, a Master Gardener and a Chamber Ambassador. In the past I have been a board member for the Lakeland Swim Club and worked with the Cub Scouts on fundraising.

Community Experience: Member of Oneida County Disaster Assessment Team, Harshaw Helping Hands Auxiliary, Friends of Birch Lake Board Member Greater Northwoods Association of Realtors and various committee chairs including past Assoc President and Secretary, MLS Director and Chamber Board member and memberships on Legislative, Ambassador, and Search committees.
Hobbies: CHEESECAKE! I do not just bake once a month for the Chamber After 5 events, I love to cook and bake for family and friends. I also love to spoil our Grandchildren.

Business Experience: I graduated from UW-Stevens Point in 2002 with a degree in Business Administration.   After graduating, I moved to Madison where I spent the next several years working as a Property / Business Manager for a large upscale apartment complex.  In 2005 I decided to move back to Northern Wisconsin where I started a new career with M&I Bank as a Personal Banker. I have also completed several M&I Banking and Management courses.

Interests:  My family and I enjoy everything outdoors - fishing, camping, canoeing, kayaking and ATVing.  We also enjoy lazy afternoons looking for agates on the shores of Lake Superior.

I have lived here for 32 years; the past 10 years have resided in Boulder Junction with my husband, Mike Winger who specializes in Fieldstone Masonry and homebuilding.
Children (grown): Breia and Kali Pfaller
Business: Soap N Suds Maytag Laundry and What's The Scoop Ice Cream Shop in Woodruff for 10 years.
Marshfield Clinic for 26 years in nursing, presently in Radiation Oncology (part-time).
We also operate 2 guest cabins on Lynx Lake in Presque Isle.
Community Experience: Co-founded (1984) and orchestrated North Country Montessori Pre-School and Kindergarten in Woodruff.
Chapter Leader for The Compassionate Friends "Northern Lights Chapter" in Woodruff, monthly meetings at One Penny Place in Woodruff for bereaved parents. Involved special projects Holy Family Church in Woodruff.
Hobbies: Snowboarding, waterskiing, tennis, kayaking, butterfly gardening.
